Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, has the job 50 Cent wanted--managing Floyd Mayweather’s very lucrative business. Ellerbe’s doing just like 50 would, too: straight, no BS. The giant Floyd Mayweather v. Manny Pacquiao bout is set to break every boxing money record in sight when the two face off in the ring on May 2 in Vegas. The ink is dry on the contract. But that didn’t stop Pacquiao’s rep Michael Koncz from stirring up more controversy by announcing Mayweather has refused a $5 million penalty should either fighter fail a drug test. Koncz wanted a separate agreement about this, outside of the contract.
Ellerbe told ESPN.com: “Michael Koncz is an idiot, and Manny Pacquiao should be ashamed to have him as his representative, in my opinion.” Ellerby wasn’t through: “If this moron didn’t convey his fighter’s wishes when the negotiation was going on, that’s their problem. This is a lame-ass attempt to generate publicity.” The animosity in this fight will not be manufactured.
