The new Huawei Smart Watch looks like it was designed by people who love watches, not just technology. Its round, friendly, 42mm face with a 1.4-inch 400 x 400 OLED display is reasonably slim too–at least it looks no chunkier than a typical diving watch. Huawei will be looking to advertise the new Huawei Watch in GQ as much as on CNET. That’s the style difference it represents.
The design edge may be the element that’s needed for consumers to start considering smart watches something other than a novelty. Sam Byford at The Verge says the Huawei Watch’s “contrast and color make it the best smartwatch screen” he’s yet seen. The Huawei Watch is an Android device. Apple, king of tech design, is expected to reveal details on its Apple Watch on March 9.
