Okay, so you’re a man attending a screening of Fifty Shades of Grey. Some would argue that you’ve already gone above and beyond the call of duty. You might deserve a medal. You certainly don’t deserve to get hit in the face with a bottle. According to Scotland’s Daily Record, three women were arrested for attacking a man at a Glasgow cinema after he asked them to keep quiet during a screening of the movie. Witnesses said the man was ‘glassed’ by the women and that staff had to wipe blood off the seats before the next show. Another described one of the women as looking “the worse for wear with drink.”
A witness quoted in the Daily Record said “There were also several incredibly drunk women vomiting in the aisle and corridor and several complaints from the other screen about drunk and rowdy folk.” Another witness commented “only in Glasgow are police called to the cinema.” Police, however, said that while the women were arrested for breaching the peace, reports that the man had been ‘glassed’ were inaccurate (cinema staff were already taking the precaution of searching patron’s bags while they queued outside, presumably for alcohol).
