Rockets GM Daryl Morey likes Jeremy Lin’s game. Morey gave Lin a shot with Houston back before anyone ever uttered the word Linsanity, and Lin performed well with the Rockets before being zipped off to LA in a deal that was more about salary cap space than ballhandling. Morey, if you haven’t heard, is an analytics guy–and Lin looks good in many metrics, even if Lakers coach Byron Scott doesn’t see it.
With Lin’s brief tenure in LA repeatedly hitting the rocks and the bench, he’ll be looking for new life after the season. The Rockets and Morey are, according to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report, “expected to be among his chief suitors this summer.” It may come as news to Lin that he’ll have suitors at all, since the Lakers have made what seems like a concerted effort to devalue the popular guard since he arrived. But after the rough ride in LA, Lin will be looking for love and a chance to prove his worth all over again. Houston, where he was popular, might be just the place.
