Alicia Shaffer makes stuff. People like it. Enter the Internet. Millionaire. That’s the story everybody loves to hear–and it really happened to Shaffer, who started selling headbands and socks on Etsy in 2011 and now has one of the top 5 stores on the popular DIY Internet retailer.
Shaffer told Good Morning America that at the beginning she was “literally hoping to a make like $100 a week.” Now her site at Etsy, called “Three Bird Nest” sells a lot more than socks–Shaffer sells everything from hair accessories to turbans and jewelry. These days Three Bird Nest has eight employees.
[Update: The company wrote in August 2016 to say that Three Bird Nest has left Etsy and gone solo. You can now find all of Alicia Shaffer’s popular designs at ThreeBirdNest.com]
