Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) didn’t just attach her celebrity name to GiveLove.org, the charity she shouted out on Oscar night. With Rosetta Getty, Arquette founded the organization, which focuses on “community-led sanitation projects to improve public health and create jobs around recycling.”
GiveLove.org was founded after the brutal 2010 earthquake in Haiti. GiveLove tackles sanitation because, as Arquette says, “Sanitation is the keystone to solving so many problems in the world– improving public health, reducing child mortality, recycling and reducing waste, and protecting water resources — and yet no one is really talking about the problem of untreated sewage or the fact that 40% of the world’s poorest people live without a toilet.” Arquette serves as Executive Director of GiveLove.org. Its current programs include Humanure Composting & Eco-Sanitation Promotion, Project & Site Design Services, and a Green Schools Program.
