Bill Belichick brought his heavy Super Bowl hardware onto The Late Show with David Letterman last night. That way just in case Dave started to get comedic about the NFL’s #DeflateGate mini-scandal, the Patriots head coach would have something to swing at him. But Letterman didn’t go there, at least at first. He let the coach get comfortable and only after a commercial break did he bring up the controversy.
“That was the game by the way with the football nonsense,” Letterman told the seemingly relieved Belichick about the Patriots blowout of his beloved Colts. “45 points. You know what I’m saying? I just thought, pick on something else…It just doesn’t make any sense.” And Belichick laughed, before saying “well we all know that as the footballs get colder, they deflate.” The coach added: “Scientifically.” He’s just getting ready for the NFL hearing in a couple of weeks.
