The FBI reports that it was a homemade explosive that blew up outside the Colorado Springs chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) on Tuesday. Not an accident, but a deliberate bombing. No deaths or injuries have been reported. According to FBI spokeswoman Amy Sanders who spoke with the Los Angeles Times: “an improvised bomb appears to have been positioned against the outside wall of the building on South El Paso Street. It was placed right next to a gasoline can, but the latter didn’t burst during the explosion.”
According to the Denver Post, the FBI’s primary suspect in the case is a balding white male about 40 years old. The hashtag #NAACPBombing has been created on Twitter to help circulate the news as media outlets were criticized for not covering the event.
