There was a lot of speculation surrounding wrestler CM Punk’s departure from the WWE earlier this year. Some say he walked out. Some say he got the boot from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. CM Punk finally went public with his side of the story last week, on his friend’s podcast, Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling.
During the two-hour podcast, Punk says there were lots of reasons to leave the WWE including pay disputes and creative differences. But “the big thing that led to my decision was my health,” said Punk. And then Punk releases “a litany of charges” that Grantland describes as “ghastly and borderline unconscionable.” Although Punk doesn’t name the WWE doctor, he blames the in-house doctor whom Punk believes treated him dismissively and “didn’t adequately respond to concussions.” Punk called the doctor out as “one of the most worthless pieces of shit” he has ever met. Why Punk didn’t refuse to work when concessed was not addressed in the interview.
