UFC fighter Leslie Smith had part of her ear ripped off by a ferocious Jessica Eye punch in the final seconds of the first round in Mexico City on Saturday night. Blood poured from the split-open ear. The first round was closely fought, but the second round saw Eye on the swift attack and then she opened up Smith’s ear again. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight on the advice of ringside physicians, according to a report by Kevin Iole.
Jessica Eye was purposeful in continuing to attack Smith’s ear. “When I connected and saw her ear blow up, that became my main target,” Eye said. She was awarded a TKO in the second round. Smith wanted to keep fighting, but the referee’s decision stood.
