Tiffany “New York” Pollard became famous when she joined the VH1 reality TV dating show Flavor of Love where 20 ladies competed for rapper Flavor Flav’s heart–as they lived together in a mansion in Encino, California. Flavor Flav nicknamed Tiffany “New York” because, you guessed it, she’s from New York. Although New York and Flavor Flav shared “the longest kiss in reality television history,” she didn’t win the show. Nicole “Hoopz” Alexander won. However, Flavor Flav invited New York to help him eliminate contestants on Flavor of Love 2. (His relationship with Hoopz didn’t work out.)
Viewers couldn’t get enough of Pollard so VH1 gave her a number of reality TV shows — I Love New York, New York Goes to Hollywood, New York Goes to Work. She took a few years off “for love,” she recently told VH1’s Damian Bellino, but now she’s “ready to get back to work.” When asked her opinion of current reality TV, she said “it’s watered down, boring, not like back in the days. Everyone is so serious with it.”
— Pollard will be one of many former reality TV stars featured on The E! True Hollywood Story on Thursday, November 13, at 8pm.
