He’s just 15-years-old but Brooklyn Beckham–eldest son of English soccer legend David Beckham and his entrepreur, pop star wife Victoria–has made a commitment. And it’s to Arsenal, which signed him this week. It’s the first step in what could be a long road to the Premier League, or a short one for the young Brooklyn. He’s obviously got name recognition that helps him get attention for his talents–and signing him does nothing to hurt publicity for Arsenal. But how far he’ll go against talented competitors whose names are as yet totally unfamiliar is information only the future knows.
Speculators thought Manchester United, where his father David played, might have an edge in signing Brooklyn. Chelsea was also thought to be in the running for Beckham’s talents.
