Apple told Samsung to take a hike this summer, moving $1 billion worth of its chip making business elsewhere. Though Apple and Samsung are rivals in their consumer-facing mobile and tablet business, Samsung had for years supplied Apple with most of its chips. But as the patent battle between the two companies got hotter, Apple opted to try something new.
But Apple is reversing its earlier decision. There is a new deal in place that will see Samsung begin manufacturing as much as 80% of the chips for Apple’s iPhones and iPads, according to the Korea Times. Apple designs its own chips.
