LeBron James’ first home game back in Ohio isn’t in Cleveland, where he returns this year after a four year Miami Heat sojourn. No, thanks to Sprite and an Ohio population so thirsty for LeBron that his every move is news, his first game was at Patterson Park in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Sprite redid Patterson Park, which hadn’t seen an upgrade since LeBron James was 8 years old.
They hired the New York artist Futura to recreate the playground and hoops court there. They filmed a huge crowd hitting the scene to watch LeBron play in a pick-up game as King James intones “Where does my thirst come from? It comes from here. From these people. From their passion.” Check it out.
