New Zealand shopper Emily Robins was surprised to see a mannequin modeling a bikini and a set of protruding rib cages. She tweeted a photo of a mannequin: “Check out this mannequin at the clothing store @Glassons. Purging is in this season! xx” she wrote. The store said it “has no plans to remove the mannequins.”
An Auckland psychotherapist who specializes in eating disorders, Anna Drijver, told The New Zealand Herald: “It absolutely will have a negative effect on young women – and young boys as well, actually. They see these images and assume that’s what we should look like.”
