NASCAR driver Tony Stewart won’t face charges in the death of driver Kevin Ward, Jr., who was killed on the track after being struck by Stewart’s car during a race on August 9. District Attorney Michael Tantillo announced last week that he would send the case to a grand jury to determine whether there was “intent” in Stewart’s actions. Grand juries deliberate in private.
Tantillo told reporters today that “after listening to and questioning all the witnesses and reviewing all of the evidence, the grand jury has decided that there is no evidence to charge Tony Stewart with any crimes.” The grand jury heard from witnesses and saw video before establishing that no charges should be brought against Stewart.
