Need something to wake you up in the morning? How about a stout? It worked for centuries in Ireland. And now Starbucks customers in Ohio and Florida are reporting the appearance of Dark Barrel Latte–a stout-influenced flavor–on the menu at their local Starbucks. The concoction boasts whipped cream and caramel on top of a “chocolately stout flavor” according to a CNBC report.
Florida and Ohio seem like the perfect states for testing the new beer-influenced brew–both are enormously popular tailgating states, and the NFL and college football seasons are just underway. Microbrewers–the beer and ale kind–have been increasingly featuring a growing line-up of sweet, chocolatey and even coffee flavored stouts. So it’s only natural that coffee roasters would return the favor. The Starbucks stout-flavored latte contains no alcohol.
