The No.2 Oregon Ducks took down Michigan State last weekend, 46-27. On Saturday, September 13, the Ducks face the Wyoming Cowboys (aka The Pokes) at home. Ducks fans are predicting a sure thing (e.g., 56-10). And why not when you have a Heisman Trophy favorite as your quarterback in Marcus Mariota? Wyoming redshirt senior quarterback Colby Kirkegaard will be making only his third career start, and the game is at the Ducks’ crazy loud Autzen Stadium.
But the Pokes may give the Ducks a buck or two. While not every NCAA football fan is familiar with Wyoming, the team should not be totally disregarded. The Pokes are first in the Mountain Division, and their defense has allowed just 12.5 points per game (they beat Air Force and Montana, so far this season). Oregon is averaging 54 points per game, including 46 against one of the best defenses in the country, Michigan State. But the Cowboys don’t have to quite stop the Ducks to make some bucks for a few hearty gamblers–they can cover the current spread if they only lose by 42.
