The versatile Nina Earl wore the #1 on her jersey while playing basketball for the UCLA Bruins–and now she’s wearing the same number in NBA superstar Russell Westbrook’s heart. The 6’1″ Earl, who shot over 50% from the field for the Bruins in 2010, was also known as a defensive standout during her college career. She achieved honorable mention as a freshman on the Pac-10 All-Defensive team.
A California girl (Pomona) she majored in English at UCLA. It shows on her lively Twitter feed, where she has written: “It’s a tough task to always be the nice girl. It’s hard work. Don’t underestimate the nice girl. She’s strong.” Russell Westbrook knows about that strength–he’s known Nina Earl a long time. Westbrook also starred at UCLA, where he played with LeBron James’ new teammate Kevin Love.
