Superman will presumably be cool–that’s his deal. But as Latino Review points out, Batman is “distrustful; he’s cerebral; he’s vengeful; he’s reclusive. We also know that, deep down, he’s very, very angry.” Fortunately so is the man playing him in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Yup, Ben Affleck has “deeply buried” anger issues. The 42-year-old Affleck has been through a lot, after all, winning an Academy Award at age 25, making millions of dollars and marrying Hollywood star Jennifer Garner.
But success is not an elixir, as we know from countless success stories turned tragedies. Nor is it permanent, as we know from Gigli (the very mention of which is said to trigger Affleck’s ire). Awareness of anger helps and that’s what Affleck has, if not always control. At least it seems that way in his talk with The Mirror. “For me, anger is so deeply buried and contained that when it does kind of come out, it comes out in stronger bursts. I’m not gonna do a Wolverine berserk rage, but…” says Affleck. A good ending to that sentence is “but I am gonna do a Batman berserk rage.” He didn’t say that, but he’s not looking gentle. Just look at his car…
