While shooting the film Game Change in Baltimore, Woody Harrelson discovered the Inn at the Black Olive and decided to buy it. The boutique hotel — with green architecture and geothermal heating, sustainable wood furnishings and a green roof — had filed for bankruptcy. The property includes a market, restaurant and 12 suite inn. Harrelson and his business partner Jack Dwyer bought it for $4.5 million.
One reviewer on tripadvisor, Sumac_13 from Darien, Connecticut recently described the Inn at the Black Olive as a “hippie hotel, in a good way.” For example, the Inn is climate controlled so the air conditioners aren’t left blasting all day. Overall, it’s described as “funky with a mellow vibe…” which pretty much reflects the personality of its new owner. (Rooms go for about $300-$400 a night.)
