It was a slow start for the LSU Tigers (ranked No. 13 in the AP preseason poll) but quarterback Anthony Jennings connected on enough passes to beat No. 14 Wisconsin on Saturday, 28-24. Now the LSU Tigers are getting ready to meet (for the very first time) Sam Houston State, on Saturday, September 6. Sam Houston also won their Labor Day weekend game against Alabama State, rolling to a 51-20 victory.
So what can the Sam Houston State Bearkats spring on LSU that the Wisconsin Badgers couldn’t? Sophomore quarterback Jared Johnson (who threw for 386 yards and three touchdowns) and senior running back Keshawn Hill, who had two scores against Alabama State. The Kats have a great home record at their 14,000-seat Bowers Stadium but can they handle the 100,000 raucous fans in LSU’s Tiger Stadium, aka Death Valley? It’s probably not a fair fight.
