Washington State’s recreational marijuana retailers are scrambling to prepare for this morning’s state licensing of a number of stores. And growers and processors are also packaging weed batches for delivery on Tuesday, when the first shops will open. Aaron Nelson, GM of 2020 Solutions in Bellingham, told The Seattle Times his facility has already passed the State Liquor Control Board’s inspection, and plans to open for business July 8th at 8 am, the earliest hour allowed by law. Perhaps a challenge for any late-night “fliers,” but the early bird gets the worm–er, buzz.
How much will eager buyers shell out for the coveted legal smoke (and recipe ingredient)? Nelson claims his inventory will be ready to please around 1,000 customers, but he might set some yet-to-be-determined limit to ensure coverage at $20 to $25 per gram. Nelson's 2020 will also be selling pre-rolled joints, artisan glass pipes, and other paraphernalia. I hope the shade of Hunter S. Thompson will hover over lines of paranoia-free customers, knowing he had a hand in this.
