CMT pulled country music star Jason Aldean‘s music video for his song ‘Try That in a Small Town’ from its network. The lyrics include: “Got a gun that my granddad gave me / They say one day they’re gonna round up / Well, that [expletive] might fly in the city, good luck.”
In the video, Aldean sings in front of the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee, while footage of protests including flag burning and looting are projected against the courthouse. Video below.
Aldean reacted on Twitter to the removal of the video, and wrote: “In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”
Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, selected a photo of her in a swimsuit on the beach with her husband, to react. With the photo above, she wrote: “Never apologize for telling the truth.”
Below are photos of the Aldeans addressing young Republicans at the annual Turning Point USA event.
Aldean’s fans and famous friends are leaving words of support including former entertainment lawyer turned conservative commentator Rogan O’Handley, who replied: “Proud of you both for being courageous truth tellers🔥You’ve got MILLIONS supporting you.” O’Handley called CMT “trash” for its action.
Newsmax personality Kimberly Klacik (below with former president Donald Trump) replied to Brittany’s post: “We love you” with red heart emojis.
Aldean, a long-time Trump supporter, added: “My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this country don’t agree on how we get back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to — that’s what this song is about.”
