Before Sylvester Stallone was known as Rocky and before Henry Winkler was known as The Fonz, the two actors starred in the 1974 movie The Lords of Flatbush. It was a comedy/drama about a group of kids in 1950s Brooklyn who form a gang (the Lords) but “have more interest in romance than in rumbles.”
According to imdb, Winkler has said that he based his character/performance of The Fonz for Happy Days (which premiered in January 1974) based on Stallone’s portrayal of Stanley in The Lords of Flatbush.
When Stallone recently shared the photo above, he wrote: “This is myself and Henry Winkler fooling around between takes during the filming of Lords of Flatbush… I think I have a strong feeling I am going to work with HENRY THE GREAT pretty soon!”
Right after Stallone teased his fans with that photo, it was announced that Stallone is working on his first film with Amazon Studios. Stallone stars and produces the action comedy titled Never Too Old To Die. It’s about “a mysterious murder within a retirement home for spies” which “sparks a Cold War hero’s personal mission to find the assassin living among them.”
As Deadline recently reported, Stallone and his Balboa Productions have a multi-year, first-look deal with Amazon Studios.
