Backgrounder: All American is a sports drama that premiered on The CW in October 2018. The show is loosely based on the life of former NFL player Spencer Paysinger and follows a high school football player named Spencer James (played by Daniel Ezra) who is recruited to play for a Beverly Hills high school football team after showing promise as a player in his home town of Crenshaw.
