RJ Barrett is the 19-year-old Canadian-born professional basketball player who was selected third overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. Barrett entered the pros after playing just one year for Duke (with Zion Williamson, who was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans first overall in the Draft).
The 6’7” shooting guard is the son of Rowan Barrett, who played professional basketball in France and is currently general manager of the Canadian men’s national team. Rowan played on the national team with NBA legend and 2x NBA MVP Steve Nash who is RJ’s godfather. Story goes, Nash bought RJ’s first crib when he was a baby.
When not on the court or in the gym, RJ Barrett spends time with his gorgeous girlfriend Hailey Brown, the 6’1″ junior on the University of Michigan’s women’s basketball team (class of 2021). The 20-year-old forward is from Canada, too.
During her sophomore season, Brown started all 34 games for Michigan and averaged 7.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 23.4 minutes per game. She was awarded the Unsung Hero Award “for contributions that don’t appear on the box score, but are invaluable to the team.”
