On the American Housewife Season 4 episode “Bed, Bath & Beyond Our Means,” Katie’s (Katy Mixon) life is turned upside down when her notoriously elusive boss, Gucci-wearing Whitney (Kelly Ripa), pops into town and promotes Katie to VP of Events. Katie (rightfully so) wonders if her promotion is worth it.
Ripa describes her self-centered character as a villainess. She says Whitney is “a person who is really so narcissistic that she doesn’t really acknowledge other people’s existence. She doesn’t care about their comfort level. She doesn’t care if they feel good about themselves.”
Ripa admits, “We’ve all worked with people like that” and says it was fun to “exorcise those demons by playing this character who is based on so many people I’ve known personally.”
