Lakers star Kyle Kuzma is no longer teammates with former #2 draft pick Lonzo Ball, but Kuzma is still part of the family. Ball has a famously talkative father (Lavar) whom many in the media — as well as many in the NBA generally — tend to dismiss or disparage as he relentlessly promotes his sons as the next Michael Jordans, at least.
The anger that the father inspires has tended to trickle down to the kids, who are just ballin’ and doing their best. The Ball kids aren’t the ones talking smack about heading to the Hall of Fame — that’s their dad. Some of the media has been retracting its premature thoughts on their Ball family coverage. Here’s a typical backtrack:
Now the youngest of the Ball bunch — LaMelo Ball — has been killing it in Australia, and the media and the NBA know-it-alls have been changing their tune about the young man’s prospects, according to Kuzma.
Now word is he may go #1 in the NBA draft! Kuzma picked up on what he thinks is the hypocritical coverage and called out those in the media who taunted young LaMelo with cries of “overrated” and worse. Kuzma says: “8 months ago you all said he’d never play In league tho. Lol keep thriving lil bro.”
Not sure who said that Kuz, but about most high schoolers there remains some doubt about NBA certainty. Anyway, a tryout with the Lakers is at least assured!
