Showtime is premiering its new series Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men on Friday, May 10. The four-part limited docu-series looks back on how the East Coast hip hop collective came together. RZA (Robert Diggs) says he knew there was something special about the way he and his friends from Staten Island and Brooklyn told stories, and how together they overcame the poverty, violence and oppression of their New York City neighborhoods. All of the living members of Wu-Tang Clan are interviewed.

Wu-Tang’s Ghostface Killah, who’s known for his stream-of-consciousness narratives chock-full of non-sequiturs, talks about finding inspiration in colors, nature and silence. In the sneak peek video below, the 49-year-old rapper uses a ricochet-style of conversation.
He says “Colors speak to me,” and adds, “I love writing with red ink.” (Gotta be blood red, right?) His eyes widen when he adds, “…under red lights.” Ghostface Killah also reveals that he loves water. “I love writing rhymes near water, it opens me up.” The first episode of Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men premieres Friday, May 10 at 9 pm on Showtime.
