On the Braxton Family Values episode “Whine Country,” new boyfriends spark drama in Napa, a pregnancy rumor raises sister suspicion, and when Tamar Braxton feels slighted, her birthday dinner takes a wild left turn. That’s par for course on Braxton Family Values.
[Buy it: Wild Yam has become popular for women’s health]
In real life, a few days before the episode airs, Toni Braxton visits her doctor, Dr. Gail Jackson (OB-GYN) in her Los Angeles office. Toni says, “I’m about to get these little pellets put in. They’re hormonal, these little pellets. They’re made out of yams.”
Dr. Jackson’s office specializes in hormone balancing using the pellet method. (The pellets are inserted in clients.) There’s a theory that wild yam may increase or stabilize estrogen levels to help relieve symptoms of menopause.
Toni explains that she has to be really careful because “I have this stupid lupus,” and this is “not an endorsement” but she encourages her fans to call Dr. Jackson. The doctor offers “the convenient subcutaneous insertion of bio-identical hormones in the form of a soft pellet.”
Dr. Jackson’s website lists many of the benefits of bio-identical hormone replacement including: heightened and increased libido, reduction of hot flashes, enhancement of sleep, and improvement of memory. Toni says at the end of the video: “I’m about to be 16 all over again.” Braxton Family Values airs Thursdays at 9 pm on WE.
