Warriors coach Steve Kerr is a funny guy. Look at it this way, humor relies on having some perspective, and Kerr has acquired quite a bit of it over the years. Take this one fact: Kerr won five titles as a player during his long NBA career, playing alongside such superstars as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Tim Duncan — and yet in this dynamic league of high-flying superstars, Steve Kerr never dunked in an NBA game. Not once. That’ll give you some perspective.
Along with his keen basketball and emotional intelligence, Kerr’s perspective and humor have been critical to the Golden State Warriors success as they’ve reached their extraordinary 5th straight NBA Finals. His humor (and perhaps his real insight) were captured on video in Toronto as the 2019 NBA Finals began. Asked by a fan for his prediction — Raptors in 5 games, or Raptors in 6? Kerr took barely a moment to give his humorous — and probably also serious — response. “It might take eight [games],” Kerr figures. It’s a 7-game series, of course.
