There are many familiar faces in the Lifetime movie Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta, a modern twist on the famous Jane Austen novel. TV veterans Reginald VelJohnson from Family Matters and Jackée Harry from 227 play the parents of five single daughters.
The youngest, Lydia, is portrayed by Reginae Carter, the 20-year-old daughter of rapper Lil Wayne. While Carter appears on the reality TV show T.I. and Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle with her mother Toya Wright, Pride and Prejudice Atlanta is Carter’s acting debut.
In the movie, Lydia’s mother describes Lydia’s attitude toward marriage like this: “Lydia’s idea of commitment is getting a tattoo.” Jane Austen described Lydia as “untamed, unabashed, wild, noisy, and fearless” and that she has “high animal spirits, and a sort of natural self-consequence.”
