Kevin Durant is so good offensively that he is sometimes asked if opposing defenses even bother him. He’s always surprised at the question. They sure do! Especially the Toronto Raptors and the great Kawhi Leonard. How does Leonard to it? Durant’s answer reveals something about his own offensive style and what it takes to stop him.
“I like to dance with the ball a bit,” Durant says. “And you just can’t do that with [Kawhi Leonard] because his has his hand right in that dribbling lane. And his hands are so big and so quick that he can get the ball if you play around. You got to use more energy just to beat him.”
Durant adds: “I just think Kawhi’s one of those guys who just love to play…somebody I’ve got total respect for.”
Durant offers a ton of basketball wisdom every time he opens his mouth. Durant is probably also — for all his outsize talent — among the most humble superstars playing in the NBA today. Not that he doubts his basketball prowess — just the opposite.
Durant is humble because he knows exactly what it takes to be great. Listening to him in the interview above should turn any non-Durant fan around, and educate even veteran hoops fans.
