Singer and guitar hero John Mayer says his contract with Fruit of the Loom skivvies prevents him from commenting on the latest pic of fellow singer and guitar hero Shawn Mendes in his Calvin Klein boxer-briefs. Too bad. Because Mayer can be pretty funny and hearing him give his musical brother Mendes the business for his undies ad might have been a solid LOL moment. Now was it the photo alone that amused Mayer? Or was it Mendes’s caption “Thank you @calvinklein #MYTRUTH#MYCALVINS x” — with its “mytruth” hashtag — that got Mayer to throw his jocular shade?
Because both Mendes and Mayer tackle bigger truths in their music than whatever truth is shouted out here by Mendes’s underwear pose. (Note: Mendes makes clear the pic is part of a “Paid partnership with Calvin Klein.” That’s a requirement — exposing advertising relationships — that a lot of influencer celebs just skip when they promote product — so that’s some Mendes truth right there.) Mayer wrote: “I would have loved to comment on this, but my Fruit of the Loom contract prevents me from doing so. #fotlpartner”. Nice on.
