In the Speechless episode The S-T-A—staircase, when JJ’s (Micah Fowler) attempts to make a good impression on Izzy’s (Kayla Maisonet) parents Omar and Brenda (Jill Lover) fail, he changes course to make a bad one instead. Maybe it was the man-shaped boxing dummy and stuffed wild cat on the kitchen table that influenced JJ’s decision.
Omar is portrayed by Philip Anthony-Rodriguez. He’s known for his roles on Modern Family (Tim), Days of Our Lives (Miguel Garcia), Grimm (Marcus Rispoli), The Secret Life of the American Teenager (Ruben Enriquez), and in the 2011 Tyler Perry film Madea’s Big Happy Family as Dr. Evans, among others. He will appear next in The Morning Show series with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston (as Gabriel), will be debut in Fall 2019. Speechless airs Fridays at 8:30 pm on ABC, right after Fresh off the Boat and right before 20/20.
