Sometimes things don’t work out. No matter who you are. It’s a lesson many adults are reluctant to impart to kids in our overprotective parenting age. (Example: Actress Lori Loughlin‘s daughter likely didn’t deserve to get into USC. Maybe failing to get in would have made her a stronger person. We’ll never know.)
And so it goes for sports too — everything seems to focus on the highlights where nearly every shot goes in. You’d think James Harden and Steph Curry hardly ever missed, if you just spend time on YouTube. (All praise Shaqtin’ a Fool, the lone arbiter of player missteps and bloopers!)

Below is video of James Harden pushing off and then failing to make the game-winning shot against the OKC Thunder. Show it to any kid you know who’s interested in succeeding. Won’t hurt to mention this either: Harden, the NBA MVP, is shooting 44.2% from the field this year. That means he misses nearly six of every ten shots he takes. Failure is good medicine. You think Harden is worried about this miss against the Thunder? Nah. He’ll hit the next one.
