On the Cartel Crew episode “Out with a Boom Boom”, Marie is getting ready for her daughter Faith’s second birthday. Although her partner and father of Faith, Michael Blanco, suggests that she get the food catered for the party, Marie insists on making it. She wants “a regular home-style birthday party” like what she had growing up. Marie really wants Faith’s grandparents (Marie’s parent) to be there. Michael reminds Marie, “They weren’t there when she was born.”

Marie says in a quiet voice, “I think maybe my dad will come around. I think he’ll eventually get over it.” Michael says he would love for Faith to get to know her grandparents but “it’s obvious they don’t want to be a part of my daughter’s life.” Marie thinks it’s worth a shot to invite them. With the cameras rolling, Marie calls and gets ready to leave a message because her father never picks up when she calls. When the voice mail picks up, Michael tells her “hang up” but she doesn’t. Her voice cracks as she records her request for her parents to come to her daughter’s birthday and ends with a heartfelt, “I love you, Dad.” It’s heartbreaking to watch.
