Norwegian Cruise Line is one of the big advertisers paying a small fortune to reach NFL fans during Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, February 3, 2019. The 30-second TV commercial for NCL shows customers having a great time on the cruise ship – driving race cars on the roof, watching Jersey Boys on stage, eating sushi, and doing back flips off a smaller charter boat. The commercial features the upbeat song “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)” by Andy Grammer off Grammer’s 2014 album Magazines or Novels. (The song — a favorite among advertisers — has also been used in Walmart and Quaker Oats Chewy Bars commercials.) “Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)” came out around the time Grammer was competing on Dancing with the Stars (he came in sixth place; Bindi Irwin won.)

In the Norwegian Cruise Line Super Bowl ad, the line “It’s gonna be free right about now” is heard right before the voice-over announces Norwegian’s special: “book now and enjoy free unlimited open bar, free airfare and more.” The company is running a sweepstakes on Twitter and Facebook during the Super Bowl – it will give away eight 7-day cruises.
