In the NCIS episode “The Last Link,” while a Navy Lieutenant named Ross Johnson (Johnny Wactor) in NCIS protective custody is poisoned by an infamous drug dealer, Gibbs (Mark Harmon) goes on a road trip with his old family friend, Army Corporal John Sydney. Sydney is looking for a missing military I.D. bracelet.
Family friend and Army Corporal John Sydney on NCIS is portrayed by 87-year-old veteran actor Dabney Coleman. He’s best known for his TV roles on Broadway Empire (Commodore Louis Kaestner), The Guardian (Burton Fallin), Buffalo Bill (Bill Bittinger), Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (Merle Jeeter), and That Girl (Dr. Leon Bessemer), among others. Coleman is also well recognized for his roles in a variety of films including You’ve Got Mail (Tom Hanks’ father Nelson Fox), WarGames (McKittrick), 9 to 5 (boss Franklin Hart, Jr., SEE LINK ABOVE), and Tootsie (Jessica Lange’s father Ron). NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on CBS, right before FBI.
