Family friend and Army Corporal John Sydney on NCIS is portrayed by 87-year-old veteran actor Dabney Coleman. He’s best known for his TV roles on Broadway Empire (Commodore Louis Kaestner), The Guardian (Burton Fallin), Buffalo Bill (Bill Bittinger), Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (Merle Jeeter), and That Girl (Dr. Leon Bessemer), among others. Coleman is also well recognized for his roles in a variety of films including You’ve Got Mail (Tom Hanks’ father Nelson Fox), WarGames (McKittrick), 9 to 5 (boss Franklin Hart, Jr., SEE LINK ABOVE), and Tootsie (Jessica Lange’s father Ron). NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on CBS, right before FBI.
