Monti Kids is a subscription service that delivers Montessori Method-approved toys to families with young children (from birth to age 3). The founder of Monti Kids, Zahra Kassam from Oakland, California, is pitching her educational toy delivery business on Shark Tank on January 27.
Kassam is certainly qualified for the job. The internationally certified Montessori teacher (and mother of two!) holds a BA in Psychology from Harvard and a Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Kassam is also a partner at Zynik Capital, a private equity company in Vancouver, Canada run by her father Iqbal Kassam. In September 2018, Iqbal sold to Zahra, indirectly through Zynik, 3,653,840 common shares of Noble Iron Inc. at $0.3125 per share for aggregate consideration of $1,141,825.
As founder of Monti Kids, Kassam was named a 2018 Global Education Influencer, named a ‘World Changing Woman’ by Conscious Company Media, and was nominated for the Dalai Lama Unsung Heroes of Compassion Awards for her work with children. So whether she gets a deal on Shark Tank or not, she’s a winner. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC.
