BRUW is a patented cold coffee brew kit designed to make the perfect coffee at home and without the need for complicated or expensive equipment. The entrepreneur behind BRUW is teenager Max Feber from Detroit, Michigan (West Bloomfield, to be more exact). Max fell in love with coffee at the age of 15 and kept experimenting with different ways to brew cold coffee at home until he had a eureka moment.

He ran into his family’s garage, “ripped a screen door off the wall, grabbed a hot glue gun and some Mason jar lids” and after some trial and error, he made his first prototype of a BRUW double-sided filter. (You screw the BRUW filter onto the top of Mason jar full of coffee grinds and cold water, add another Mason jar, then flip it over and voila!) The enthusiastic young man pitches BRUW on Shark Tank on January 6. Feber is seeking an investment of $50,000 in exchange for 25 percent equity. He gives a flawless presentation and you can tell that the Sharks — Mark Cuban, Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec — are impressed with the young entrepreneur.
Max Feber is currently a sophomore at the private business school Babson College (class of 2021) in Wellesley, Massachusetts. In high school (Frankel Jewish Academy in West Bloomfield, MI), Feber was on the varsity bowling team, in Model UN, and Moot Beit Din (Mock Jewish Court). The bright teen also participated in PeerCorps Detroit, a non-profit organization that encourages Jewish teens and b’nai mitzvah students to engage in community-based volunteering in the city of Detroit. That’s some resume! And he knows how to surround himself with smart people — including the IP law firm of Harness, Dickey & Pierce in Troy, MI (see below). New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC. [27 Favorite ‘Shark Tank’ Products at Amazon]
