Eben Dobson of San Diego, California is the founder of WISP Industries which makes the revolutionary floor cleaning product, the Wisp. He says he’s “re-engineered the broom and dustpan from the bristles up.” Dobson demonstrates his product on Shark Tank (November 18) he impresses the Sharks including guest Shark Sara Blakely of Spanx fame. First Dobson demonstrates the ineffective old-fashioned way of sweeping which requires two hands. Shark Barbara Corcoran watches and agrees, “It’s true, it’s a pain.” Well, no more, Barbara.
The lightweight Wisp is designed to be used with one hand and the patented dustpan that comes with it just needs a tap on the foot — the dustpan then creates the perfect seal against the floor so debris goes straight into the pan and is not left on the floor. Mark Cuban nods, “That’s smart.” Lori Greiner is impressed with the sides of the pan which has combs to clean off the bristles of the broom. When Dobson announces that he’s seeking an investment of $500,000 for 10 percent equity, Cuban says, “That’s a lot of wisping.”
Prior to designing and manufacturing the WISP, Dobson was a financial advisor for 18 years. According to LinkedIn, Dobson specialized in advising professional athletes. That kind of experience should come in handy when negotiating with Cuban, owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks, who often negotiates with professional athletes. The WISP retails for $29.95 online at Amazon (SEE LINK ABOVE). Shark Tank airs Sundays at 9 pm on ABC, right after Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.
