The Kombucha Shop sells a DIY kombucha brewing kit so you can make the super popular drink at home. Kombucha is a fizzy, low-sugar fermented tea that’s filled with healthy probiotics. The problem is most kombucha drinks available in retail stores cost $3 to $5 per bottle. With the Kombucha Brewing Kit, you can brew your own (and make your own custom flavors) for about 25-cents a bottle. The founder of The Kombucha Shop, Kate Field of Madison, Wisconsin, is pitching her beverage business on Shark Tank on November 18. She’s seeking an investment of $350,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity. She’s hoping to scale the business and bring affordable kombucha into homes everywhere. The Kombucha Brewing Kit, which comes with everything you need from the brew glass jar to ingredients and instructions, retails for $45.

Kate Field, 31, knows a thing or two about clean healthy living. After graduating from St. Olaf College where she studied Environmental Studies (class of 2010), she worked as a Farm Apprentice at Stony Creek Farm and later became Healthy Food Initiative Coordinator at Capital Area Food Bank of Washington, D.C. which educates low-income communities about nutrition and cooking. It was doing that work with Capital Area Food Bank when Field realized just how bad sugary beverage consumption is in America. “I realized it was a huge piece of the nutrition puzzle that everyone seemed to be missing,” says Field. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC, right after Dancing with the Stars: Juniors. [Related: 27 Favorite ‘Shark Tank’ Products at Amazon]
