BoomBoom is a line of all-natural nasal inhalers made of essential oils, menthol and other simulating scents. The founders, husband-and-wife duo John and Chelsea Pinto from Los Angeles, describe Boom Boom as “the new best friend for your nose.” Your eyes have eye drops, your mouth has mouthwash, and your lips have lip balm – but what about your nose? Most nose products on the market are for congestion or allergies while Boom Boom is designed for refreshment and rejuvenation. “It’s like gum for your nose but ten times more minty fresh,” says John. Together, John and Chelsea Pinto pitch BoomBoom on Shark Tank (October 28). They are seeking an investment of $300,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity.

Why are the Pintos so fascinated with the nasal canal, you ask? Well, the airway and the role that proper breathing plays in overall health is especially important to Chelsea as she is a dentist. Dr. Chelsea Pinto, DDS is also the infant tongue-tie specialist at the Breathe Institute in Los Angeles. In 5 to 10 percent of newborns, the lingual frenulum (the cord that connects the tongue to the bottom of the mouth) is either too thick, too short, or too tight and prohibits the tongue from moving freely which can affect sleep, speech, and breastfeeding patterns. Dr. Pinto provides “myofascial and myofunctional therapy and breastfeeding support to best address tongue function and its impact on the rest of the body.” New episodes of Shark Tank (Season 10, Fall 2018) air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC.
