On Season 4 of Celebrity Family Feud, two comedic actresses Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Wanda Sykes (black-ish, The New Adventures of Old Christine) bring their families on the game show to play for charities but their spouses are not included. Sykes has been married for 10 years to Frenchwoman Alex (nee Niedbalski) Sykes. They have 9-year-old fraternal twins (daughter, Olivia, and son Lucas) together. Prior to the airing of the episode, in July 2018, it was announced that Vardalos filed for divorce from her husband of 23 years, actor Ian Gomez (Cougar Town, The Drew Carey Show, Felicity). My Big Fat Greek Wedding was inspired by Vardalos’ romance with Gomez, who played the role of best man to John Corbett’s character Ian Miller. Gomez, who is of Puerto Rican and Russian Jewish descent, converted to the Greek Orthodox Church upon marrying Vardalos.
[Vardalos was nominated for an Oscar for writing My Big Fat Greek Wedding]
One week prior to the Celebrity Family Feud episode airing, People reports that the couple were able to settle their divorce in just two months. The pair has an 11-year-old daughter, Ilaria Vardalos Gomez. Both Vardalos and Gomez were asking for joint legal and physical custody of their child. Celebrity Family Feud airs Sundays at 8pm on ABC.
