Silidog Tags is a line of colorful and customizable dog tags made of silicone so the tags a dog wears don’t jingle when the dog moves — a real nuisance when a pup has fleas! The young founder of Silidogs, Michael Lickstein of Milwaukee, Oregon, pitched his business on Shark Tank in October 2016. He went into the Tank seeking an investment of $100,000 in exchange for 15 percent equity. Lickstein received offers from Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec and Lori Greiner. The University of Florida MBA student accepted Greiner’s offer — with $100,000 for 30 percent and a 50 cent royalty for every tag sold.
After Shark Tank, SiliDog continues to make a presence at trade shows including Global Pet Expo and SuperZoo. Over the past two years, the Better Business Bureau has received a number of customer complaints — mostly regarding the delivery, not the quality, of SiliDog tags. However, on The Grommet, Silidog receives rave reviews.
