On Season 6 of Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer travels to Jacksonville, Florida to check out Fatballs Sports Bar and Grill. You read that right. The sports bar has “a horrible reputation” and very few customers. Taffer helps the owner of Fatballs, Tony, to pivot and renames the place The Bayou, a New Orleans Bar & Grill where they’re serving 60 cent shrimp and oysters and 2-for-1 mixed drinks specials. That was in January 2018.

Two months after the Bar Rescue makeover The Bayou hit a hiccup with inspectors and temporarily closed. But the restaurant quickly jumped back on track, met inspection standards and reopened. The shrimp and oyster deals are still making budget-conscious diners happy, and the 2-for-1 cocktail specials are drawing in patrons. Fatballs is no longer, but The Bayou owner Tony — with Taffer’s help — may be on his way to fattening up his wallet. New episodes of Bar Rescue air Sundays at 10pm on Paramount Network.
