Rock legend and “I Can’t Drive 55” singer Sammy Hagar takes AXS TV along as he rolls into Rockfest in Kansas City. It’s part of AXS TV’s Rock & Roll Road Trip series, and Sammy Hagar is the perfect man for the job. Sammy’s gonna get there in a hurry, of course, but not without enjoying himself to the fullest. Good thing he’s on the move too — he doesn’t want age to catch up with him. Halestorm lets Sammy know not to sweat it — “there’s no age in rock & roll,” they tell him. Hagar returns the favor telling Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde he can relax about being 50. Sammy’s got a son who’s 47. Yup, the Red Rocker — as Sammy is widely know — is getting up there: he’s 70. But he keeps laughing (a lot) and challenging life to give him something he can’t handle. So far, Sammy’s clearly winning.
That stats on the game are crystal clear: Sammy Hagar is part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 2007 as a member of Van Halen. And he owns his own damn tequila company, Cabo Wabo. (Well he sold it, but he’s got the money.) Beat that, life. At Rockfest, Sammy performs with The Circle (see link/image above) with other big name rock dudes. The Circle’s bassist is Van Halen‘s Michael Anthony. On drums a guy with a surname you might recognize: Jason Bonham. “Every band has their version of how they go on tour,” Sammy says. “This is the way Sammy does it.” He also promises: “Someday I’ll be the oldest living rock star.” Don’t bet against him. Check out the AXS schedule and, as they say, set your DVR.
