The hair-cutting and beard-shaping tool Cut Buddy was invented by Joshua Esnard of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He came up with the idea as a kid and then brought the idea to life after become a CAD engineer for the U.S. Air Force and NASA. Cut Buddy is easy to use and economical (you don’t have to go to the barber as often). Esnard pitched his grooming product on Shark Tank in November 2017. Esnard went into the Tank seeking an investment of $300,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity. After a round of negotiation which included reservations from Daymond John, Esnard accepted John’s offer of $300k for 20 percent equity.
[The Cut Buddy is $15 on Amazon]
Since Shark Tank, the Cut Buddy spent some time as the #1 best-selling grooming product on Amazon. And on a personal note, Esnard became a dad. But fatherhood hasn’t stopped his inventive mind. Quite the opposite. His latest invention is a ball that functions as a “multi nipple no drip drinking bottle for pup litters and babies who don’t have good hand eye coordination.” See prototype below. He already has a patent on it! Esnard says it’ll be ready in 2019. [Related: 33 Favorite Shark Tank Gifts For Men, Women, Kids, Pets]
